Canada's federal Liberal Party has filed a no confidence motion but it may not have enough support to force an election.
The vote will most likely take place this coming Thursday but it seems that the Liberals do not have the support within the House of Commons to win.
CBC News
reports that the New Democratic leader, Jack Layton and the rest of the NDP will back the minority federal government.
The Liberals put the motion forward after the Canadian Prime Minister presented an economic report in Saint John New Brunswick.
In the report the PM stated 90 per cent of the stimulus funding has been pledged for more than 7,500 infrastructure and housing projects.
To gain the Liberal support for this past January’s budget the Conservatives had promised to issue quarterly reports. This is the third such report.t
Liberal leader, Michael Ignatieff told the CBC, "Two weeks ago, they let slip out that they're going to boost payroll taxes. Today, they came out and said 90 per cent of their projects have been committed … and the reality we've found is only 12 per cent of their infrastructure money has actually got in to shovels in the ground."
He added, "So the issue for us is just basic trust with what this government is saying to us. We're tired of this kind of game-playing. We wanted real accountability. We wanted a government that tells Canadians the truth. We've had enough."
However, the NDP leader will support the government in order to obtain a quick passage of legislation extending EI benefits for the unemployed.
