Impostor Tweeter for Chef Michael Smith Irks Real Chef

An imposter on Twitter has been tweetering in the guise of Chef Michael Smith. The impostor implied that Smith hates Montreal. Those tweets have enraged the otherwise nice guy Smith.

Smith's PR team had to move into action this week after an imposter hit the Twitter airs about Smith's hate of the Quebec city Montreal. The National Post printed some of those Tweets:

• Montreal preys on clueless tourists and pretentious locals. Desperate, dated restaurants abound. It's not a foodie city.

• Montreal means grotesque, tragic food served by hateful staff.

The fraudulent account was discovered earlier this week. In real life Smith is launching his latest cookbook The Best of Chef at Home. When a writer from the Montreal Gazette quizzed the chef about his supposed Tweets Smith was in shock. He was dismayed that this impostor was not only writing negativity about Montreal but posting comments about Smith's family life. Michael Smith is one of the Food Network's most beloved stars.
