Israel and Australia reported warnings to their civilians to avoid visiting its cities due to terrorist threat. Days later India also increased security.
Warnings were announced after intelligence reported potential terror attacks in India, especially in the country's financial capital Mumbai.
Palaniappan Chidambaram, the Indian home minister told reporters, “We are increasing our level of preparedness to meet any terror threat or terror attack,”
Last year an Israeli Jewish centre in Mumbai was attacked by terrorists leaving 170 people dead and around 700 injured.
India has increased security at its borders with Pakistan due to terrorist threat from Pakistan based terror groups.
Last week Indian officials were in communication with Israel after a television report had a "pinpoint" intelligence tip-off regarding potential Pakistani militant attacks in India over the coming weeks.
Last Friday morning there was more shooting at the Border Security Force post on the India-Pakistan border near Jammu and two BSF troopers were injured on Thursday evening. The Indian site fought back after the first bullet hit the post. 'After last night's lull there was firing again at the same post to which we have again retaliated,' reported an official. India has built a barbed wire fence inside Indian territory to monitor cross border infiltration along the 220-km international border in the Jammu region as well as 720 km of the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
