A dinner with Sarah Palin was up on a charity auction block this month. The winner though was not one of the top bidders. A journalist that had written negative Palin articles was shut out of the auction during the last hour.
Palin was given the right to reject dining with the winner if they did not meet her standards. According to
Newser the auction rules were based "on her subjective standards of suitability, professionalism, background and other factors."
Those rules made sure Joe McGinnis was unsuitable to break bread with the former Alaskan governor. McGinnis has written unfavorably about Palin's handling of the Alaska gas line.
In the end, the
winner is a fan of Palin's. Cathy Maples of Huntsville is the owner of an Alabama defense contracting company.
The price of the dinner? She is forking over round-trip air fare and $63,500.
The auction was for the
Ride 2 Recovery program.
