CNN's Rick Sanchez ranted for nearly seven minutes at an advertisement placed in the Washington Post by Fox News that claimed CNN and others did not cover the anti-Obama tea party rally.
A full-page color advertisement placed in the Washington Post by Fox News asked a provocative question: "How Did ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC and CNN Miss This Story?" The story in question was the anti-Obama, anti-tax tea party rally in Washington DC that drew tens of thousands.
The networks that Fox News called out in the advertisement have reacted, saying the Fox News claims are "false" and "outrageous."
But CNN's Rick Sanchez was particularly emotional - slamming Fox News for nearly 7 minutes and showing clip after clip of CNN's coverage of the event.
"We did cover the event. What we didn't do is promote the event," Sanchez said. "Bottom line is we do cover the news, and we did extensively cover this event. We didn't promote the event. That's not what real news organizations are supposed to do. We covered the event."
Fox News issued a statement in response to the commentary from Mr. Sanchez.
"Generally speaking, it's fair to say that from the tea party movement ... to ACORN ... to the march on 9/12, the networks either ignored the story, marginalized it or misrepresented the significance of it altogether," said Michael Tammero, vice president of marketing for Fox News.
