article imageKobe Bryant's Former Housekeeper Files Suit Against All-Star

By Oscar Brooks     Sep 18, 2009 in Sports
An Orange County judge has ruled that Maria Jimenez can continue with her suit against Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa. But she can't sue for emotional distress.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Kirk Nakamura made the ruling on Thursday. Jimenez is the former housekeeper who claims the Bryant's denied her health insurance and forced her to quit because she was humiliated and demeaned by them. She is suing for wrongful discharge.
The judge also ruled the Bryant's can continue with their counter suit of Jimenez. The Bryant's are counter-suing because they claim Jimenez violated the confidentiality agreement by talking to reporters about the family.
Bryant is coming off a championship winning NBA season. It was his fourth league championship as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the first championship the team has one in the post-Shaq era and the first for the Lakers since 2002.
