From the black and white television in the 1920's to the the plasmas, flat screens and HDs, the television has gone through an evolution of epic proportions. But an upcoming technology may trump them all.
Television giants, Sony and Panasonic recently announced that come 2010, they will release the so-called "3-D television systems" -- the newest breakthrough in home entertainment that introduces three-dimensional images, usually seen in movie theaters.
Robert Perry, Panasonic's executive vice president, describes the infusion of the 3-D system as making TV "real." Perry also compared the expected transition of 3-D systems to the shift from black-and-white to colored and from standard- to high-definition images.
The 3-D technology was recently presented at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association Expo in Atlanta, Georgia. According to
CNN, those who saw it seemed "wowed" with the 3-D footage of Olympic events and skiers who appeared to send snow flying into the laps of the audience.
The 3-D TV requires a new television, broadcasting content and 3-D glasses -- still, the price of such isn't expected to be higher than some high-definition televisions out on the market.
