A man from Australia who made the headlines after springing his dog from a pound before going on the run with his pet has now told the police he will give himself up.
Max the dog who belongs to Ron Gilbertson found himself on the animal equivalent of death row after he attacked some sheep.
When his owner arrived to offer what should have been his final goodbye, he released the dog and went on the run, leaving his family behind.
Australian police say they know the whereabouts of the two and that Gilbertson was now ready to give himself up.
The owner could now possibly be charged for releasing the dog and for the damage done to the cage when he cut his dog free.
Ron Gilbertson might also find himself with a hefty legal bill from a previous court battle to try and stop Max from being put to sleep.
Andy Stott, who is from the Mount Gambier police, is quoted on the BBC as saying:
"We have found out where he is and he will come in within the next few days to surrender to charges."
