According to a memoir by ex-speech writer Matt Latimer, former United States President George W. Bush felt unease about McCain, liked Romney but finds Obama to be inadequate for the job.
In Latimer's latest book, "Speech-less: Tales of a White House Survivor," that is set to hit stores on September 22, releases a lot of information on former US President George W. Bush and his views on the 2008 Presidential election, as well many other topics, reports CNN.
The book suggests that Pres. Bush liked former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney the best out of all Republican candidates but was not impressed with the McCain campaign. According to the book, McCain wanted Bush to campaign with him but he was shocked that McCain could not gather 500 people, "'He couldn't get 500 people? I could get that many people to turn out in Crawford. 'This is a five-spiral crash, boys," Bush said.
When it came to McCain's pick as running mate, Bush believed former governor of Alaska Sarah Palin was not prepared and asked if she was the "governor of Guam." Bush further said, "This woman is being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for. She hasn't spent one day on the national level. Neither has her family. Let's wait and see how she looks five days out," according to the Kansas City Star.
Bush presumed that then-Senator of New York and current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic nominee and stated his views of Barack Obama. Bush was, according to Latimer, very "ticked off" to one of Obama's speeches, ""(Bush) came in one day to rehearse a speech, fuming. 'This is a dangerous world,' he said for no apparent reason, 'and this cat isn't remotely qualified to handle it. This guy has no clue, I promise you,'" Latimer said.
Latimer's book also reveals Bush's views on the economic collapse, his presidency and other issues.
