Kanye West Interrupts Taylor Swift Speech During MTV Music Awards

Taylor Swift was rudely interrupted during her music video award acceptance speech by hip hop artist and producer Kanye West.

Kanye West is no stranger to controversy and outspoken manner. Taylor Swift is arguably America's music sweetheart. Unfortunately the two collided during the 2009 MTV Awards when Swift won an award for Best Female Video. As she began her acceptance speech, Mr. West got up on the stage, took the microphone and expressed his opinion on who should have won.

"Taylor, I'm really happy for you. I'll let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!"

The audience and Swift appeared to be confused as West spoke. He abruptly handed the microphone back to Swift and left the stage. He was subsequently escorted out of the ceremony. The audience began clapping for Swift and cheering her on to complete her speech. Swift said something inaudible because the awards show began to broadcast a pre-recorded Tracy Morgan skit on the large screen behind her. This isn't the first time Kanye has caused controversy by public statements. He infamously said that "George Bush doesn't care about black people" during a Hurricane Katrina telethon. Mr. West also vehemently complained about losing in his own categories during the 2004 American Music Awards and the 2006 MTV Europe Awards. West has since issued an official apology to MTV, his fans and Swift on his blog. in his usual all-caps style.
