Among the artworks taken from a Los Angeles home are 10 well-known pieces of famous late 1970s athletes. Among the ten athletes are Muhammad Ali, Pele, OJ Simpson and Chris Evert.
SkyNews reports a $1 million dollar reward for information leading to the artworks' recovery has been posted by an anonymous donor.
The art was stolen from the west Los Angeles home of businessman and art collector Richard Weisman.
Each of the stolen works are 40 inches square and all were in the dining room.
On September 3, a housekeeper saw that the works were gone as well as a portrait of Weisman, the housekeeper contatced the police.
There was no sign of forced entry.
In 2002, when the owner attempted to sell the Warhol paintainf, they were valued at $2 million.
SkyNews reports Detective Sommer as saying "This was a very clean crime. (The home) wasn't ransacked."
Other Warhol paintings were left behind and no physical damage was done
"For some reason they had an interest in this collection," the police officer added.
A maroon van spotted by a neighbour in the Weisman driveway around the time of the robbery.and the police are looking for further information.
