The writer and producer of the television classic MASH, Larry Gelbart died on Friday at the age of 81. Gelbart died in his California home with his family around.
Larry Gelbart was the one of the creators of hit television series MASH. He was also a writer of many other fan favorites including The Red Buttons Show and The Danny Kaye Show.
Beginning his career in radio 60 years ago,
Gelbart went on to be one of the most sought after comedy writers.
His name was spoken by announcers over and over at award shows. He was the winner of two Honorary Doctorates and eight Writers Guild awards.
Gelbart was diagnosed with cancer this past June. He died at his Beverly Hills home Friday morning according to his wife Pat.
He is survived by his wife, their two children, two stepchildren, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
