Yesterday, news broke that the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) had staff members trying to help a pimp and prostitute cheat on their taxes. Well, another video at a different location has surfaced today.
The office in Baltimore, Maryland was the location that was
filmed in the video yesterday. The news
breaking today involves the organization's Washington D.C. office. Video shows the same couple, James O'Keefe and an associate posing as a prostitute, showing up to the office for advice on how to establish a fraudulent business to mask the prostitution ring.
"She's not going to put on (the loan application) that she's doing prostitution ... she doesn't have to," the ACORN staffer says. "You don't have to sit back and tell people what you do." The ACORN employee goes on to tell O' Keefe that as her pimp, he should look into purchasing a house, allow her to live there, and as the landlord he can say he did not know of the illegal activities happening inside. "[W]hen the police ask you, (tell them) you don't know where (the money is) coming from," the ACORN employee said. "We are looking out for you."
The two filmmakers went on to mention bringing in 10 illegal, underage El Salvadorian girls to work in his prostitution ring. "There's like 10 girls," O'Keefe says. "There's ten El Salvadoreans." The ACORN staffer replies, "I understand what you are saying."
When asked to comment, an ACORN spokesman said that he would need to view the video tape and the transcripts before commenting. Both O' Keefe and his associate filmed their interactions at the Baltimore office of ACORN and the video was released yesterday. Late last night, ACORN fired the two employees that were implicated in the video yesterday.
ACORN bills itself of their website as a network of families "working together for social justice and stronger communities." Over the past few months, Republicans have criticized the organization and accused them of committing voter fraud.
"Taxpayers should be outraged that their money has gone to an organization that, in addition to facing charges of voter fraud and tax violations, is willing to facilitate prostitution," said Rep. Steve King, (R-IA). "As this video confirms, ACORN continues to operate as a criminal enterprise."
