A new report from Gene Munster, senior research analyst with Piper Jaffray, suggests Apple may sell 7 million phones this September quarter.
As stocks of Apple's new 3GS iPhone devices increase to finally match demand, Munster suggests sales of the device could reach iPhone-record heights.
According to
Apple Insider, Munster said:
"Our checks indicate store managers are increasingly recommending the 3GS, and we believe this is driven by improved availability of the 3GS at most AT&T stores. "Overall, the iPhone remains the best selling device and our August checks indicate the iPhone took share from BlackBerry, the Nokia E71x, and most other competitor products."
If Apple does sell seven million iPhones, including the 3GS, 3G and original iPhone, they would make a huge improvement over previous sales, with 5.2 million devices sold last quarter and 6.8 million this time last year.
With regards to the Apple event scheduled for Sept. 9, Munster believes no new products will be announced, Steve Jobs will be present, and a new iPod touch, iPod nano and iPod classic will all be introduced.
It's now a waiting game.
