Father could spend 15 year in jail for kissing daughter

An Italian father faces 15 years in prison after kissing his daughter while in a hotel pool. Brazil is enforcing strict new laws child abuse in the case.

According to witnesses the man was groping a child, 8, in a resort pool in an intimate way after the man kissed the child on the mouth. The couple that reported the man to police were unaware that the child was his daughter. The man was arrested on September 2. During the weekend attempts were made to free him which failed according to BBC. The girl has darker colouring than her Italian father because her mother is Brazilian. Hotel staff and the mother of the young girl say that nothing out of the ordinary took place. Last month the laws in Brazil changed when it comes to molesting a child. The offense now carries a penalty of eight to 15 years in jail. The father, an Italian businessman remains in jail. There will be another attempt to free him on Tuesday by his family. He and his family were to leave for Italy last week.
