Suzuki hit a lead-off double in the first inning and went 1-for-4 in the road loss.
The only baseball to accomplish hitting 2,000 hits faster was Hall of Famer Al Simmons who played between the 1920s and 1940s and reached 2,000 hits in 1,390 games.
The Mariners are 72-66 and third place in the American League West division. They are 10.5 games behind the first place Los Angeles Angels and 8 games behind the Wild-Card leader Boston Red Sox.
