article imageMTV's New Teen Wolf Series is a Go

By Summer Banks     Sep 5, 2009 in Entertainment
MTV is going ahead with the plans for a pilot episode of the Teen Wolf=based series. With the recent popularity of werewolves, thanks to Twilight, MTV is taking the jump into the outrageous.
MTV has always been on the cusp of new and exciting series ideas. While many of the series produced by MTV are reality based, the new Teen Wolf pilot is as far from reality as you can get.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, MTV's version of the Michael J. Fox cult classic is nothing like the new "Wolf". "It has more of an 'American Werewolf in London' feel to it," says senior VP of MTV series development Liz Gateley.
With the creator of the CBS series "Criminal Minds" working on the MTV "Teen Wolf" remake, there is little doubt the quirky character flaws from the 1980s will be left for a new, more brave twist of fate. While there could be a link between the huge popularity of werewolves thanks to the "Twilight" movie and book series, the 1980s are popping up all over television.
Shows from more than two decades ago are getting a new look for today's television audience. With remakes of "V" and "Parenthood" in production, we could be looking at a resurgence of many old favorites. I will be curious to see if a hit like "The A-Team" will be redone or maybe "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century."
