A man landed in the emergency room after part of his pinky finger was bitten off during a heated argument at a health care reform demonstration in Ventura County, California.
According to a FOX News
report, Sheriff's Capt. Frank O'Hanlon says about 100 people demonstrating in favor of health care reforms rallied Wednesday night at a Thousand Oaks street corner when one man walked across the street to confront about 25 Obama health care activists.
O'Hanlon said, "the man got into a fight and bit off half the left pinky of 65-year-old William Rice."
Rice told The Associated Press the man was not part of the counter-demonstration and merely stopped by the event to see what was happening. There was no further information as to what provoked the fight at press time.
A hospital spokeswoman says doctors could not reattach the finger and he was sent home the same night.
According to the Fox report, O'Hanlon claims police were not able to arrest the attacker because he fled, but authorities do have a good description.
The incident occurred in in Thousand Oaks, California.
