article image'People of Walmart' Pokes Fun at Nova Scotia Shopper

By Kevin Jess     Aug 30, 2009 in Entertainment
A picture taken at a Sydney, Nova Scotia Walmart was the latest feature on the website 'People of Walmart.' The site spotlights the outrageously bad, ugly, creepy, crazy shoppers at the retail giant, says the site.
'People of Walmart' was founded in August of 2009 by three friends and roommates after an inspirational trip to WalMart says their website.
What was that inspiration? From the site's about page it says,
"Let’s face it; we all have seen the people who obviously don’t have mirrors and/or family and friends to lock them in a basement, and they all seem to congregate at Walmart. It’s not everywhere that you can shop for milk at 10 a.m. next to a 400lb mother of 6 wearing a pink tube top, leopard tights, and hooker heels. Where else can one go to pick up underwear at 3 O’clock in the afternoon and spot the greatest mullet of all time paired with a mustard stained wife beater (which only accents the extreme amount of body hair) and camo pants that were actually used in Vietnam."
Yesterday, amongst a group of ten photos featured on the site was one from this writer's home province of Nova Scotia.
The photo shows what looks like an SUV with a bad window replacement job parked outside of a Walmart store.
A writer for Associated Content says, "People of WalMart" is the place to go if you are looking for a little stress relief at the end of a long business day, or have had a long day dealing with your children, or if you've just got back from WalMart and the shoppers looked and acted normal for a change.
The site does not allow pictures of people who are challenged through no fault of their own.
