In nearly six decades, a Kennedy will not hold a seat in Washington's Senate however, that does not mean a Kennedy will not make long-term plans for a political run.
Even though he is not Constitutionally eligible for office, former Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy's 11-year-old grandson announced on Friday his candidacy for a Senate seat in 2044, according to CNN.
'I plan to become the senator of Massachusetts when I turn 45,' Edward Kennedy III told New England Cable News on Friday. He further reflected upon the life and death of his grandfather Ted Kennedy, 'We should be happy for him that he is with his brothers and sisters in heaven, not sad because he's not with us. Because when we go to heaven, we'll be with him and it will be one big happy family.'
The only Kennedy remaining in Washington is Sen. Ted Kennedy's son, Rhode Island Democratic Congressman Patrick Kennedy.
The 11-year-old Kennedy's great uncle is former President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
