article imageMan arrested for driving drunk for 22nd time

By KJ Mullins     Aug 27, 2009 in Crime
A man in New Mexico was arrested for the 22nd time for drunk driving on Monday. The latest arrest came with a blood alcohol content of .39 which is nearly 5 times the legal limit.
According to the arresting officer, the 51-year-old man was coherent when he was stopped but had slurred speech. That was enough for the officer to clue in that the man may have been under the influence of alcohol, reports AP.
The man was found under his car Monday afternoon. He was using a shoe string to tie down his hood. It is suspected that he hit something while driving his car.
The man had five previous arrests in New Mexico and 16 recorded arrests in other places.
It's unclear if the man has any convictions for his prior drunk driving charges. What is clear is that the man had three warrants out for his arrest and a revoked license.
Delano Vigil has been booked into the Santa Fe County jail.
