By Ursachi Cosmin     Aug 26, 2009 in Technology
This year's edition of GamesCom, the international games and entertainment fair, was a complete success. It's popularity surpassed that of E3.
The GamesCom fair is one of the largest games and entertainment fairs in the world. It is designed to promote the quality of computer games and their social impact. This year, GamesCom took place on August 20 at Cologne, Germany.
According to the official site, GamesCom 2009 received over 245.000 visitors and 458 exhibitors from 31 countries, compared to E3 who only had 203.000 visitors earlier this year.
Oliver P. Kuhrt, managing director of Koelnmesse GmbH had this to say about the event:
"The GamesCom premiere ran splendidly. We are very happy with the enthusiastic response of both exhibitors and visitors. This has established GamesCom as a leading trade fair straight away."
Olaf Wolters, managing director of the BIU expressed in his summary:
"We are very proud of the premiere of GamesCom. It fulfilled all our objectives right away and is the largest game trade fair in the world. Computer and video games are so attractive that our industry is breaking all records despite the economic crisis."
The next GamesCom will take place between 18 - 22.08.2010.
