Nevada Senator Harry Reid has issued a statement concerning the re-nomination of Ben Bernanke to chair the Federal Reserve by President Barack Obama.
Nevada Senator and Majority Senate leader Harry Reid has issued a statement to the press through an email in response to President Barack Obama’s re-nomination of Ben Bernanke to chair the Federal Reserve Tuesday morning.
Senator Reid’s statement, "Chairman Bernanke has played an important role in our nation's economic recovery efforts. His expertise and leadership as Federal Reserve Chairman have been crucial as our nation has endured this financial crisis. His re-nomination will bring continuity to the Federal Reserve that will send the right signal to the marketplace. I support President Obama's decision to re-nominate Chairman Bernanke and expect the Senate to re-confirm him."
Senator Harry Reid is North Las Vegas today for a dedication ceremony marking the opening the opening of the Clark County Shooting Park on the far north end of Decatur road.
The Senator fought hard to acquire both funds and land for what is being called the world finest shooting park.
The park has not gone without some controversy which has come from home owners who purchased homes who claim that Realtors failed to disclose that plans were being made to build the shooting park.
It is being hailed has a needed facility to provide a safe environment for shooting enthusiast and helping to stem shooters from discharging firearms in the vast desert areas that surround Las Vegas.
The Ceremony will feature remarks from Senator Reid and other Las Vegas authorities and dignitaries.
Tomorrow, Senator Reid and Education Secretary Arne Duncan will hold a press conference to announce Title I School Improvement Grants which will be awarded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to provide states and school districts with unprecedented funding to turn around the nation’s lowest-achieving schools.
The conference will be held at the Harley Harmon Elementary School in Las Vegas at 1:30 p.m. which will be followed by what is being called and a "listening and learning" session.
The session is intended too seek out grassroots input from a broad group of stakeholders around federal education policy. The goal of the nationwide tour, that is being led by Education Secretary Arne Duncan is intended to solicit feedback on the No Child Left Behind Act and the Obama Administration’s education agenda, including such issues as early childhood education, higher standards, teacher quality and workforce development.
