article imageRobin Williams to Play Susan Boyle?

By Kevin Jess     Aug 24, 2009 in Entertainment
The actor who was a smash hit when he played 'Mrs. Doubtfire' in 1993 may be cross-dressing again. Some reports indicate Williams will play the title role in a new film biopic about singer Susan Boyle, while others claim the rumours aren't true.
Although Boyle signed a record deal thought to exceed $10 million, it seemed for a while that interest in her had waned and that a potential biopic wouldn’t go through.
Hollywood executives think Robin WIlliams would be a huge hit if he put on a dress, a wig and some lipstick once again to play 48-year-old Britain’s Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle reports the Telegraph.
In 'Mrs. Doubtfire', Williams played a divorced dad who loses custody of his kids and then disguises himself as a Scottish housekeeper so he can secretly spend time with his children.
According to MSNBC, however, a representative for the the 57-year-old Robin Williams says the Telegraph's reporting is not at all accurate, "...yet the publication apparently had the gumption to create quotes to bolster its thesis."

The Telegraph quotes Williams as having said "I've been asked if I want to play Susan in the movie. I think she's incredible. That clip of her singing on 'Britain's Got Talent' was extraordinary. So inspiring. It was quite a shock when she began to sing."
However, as MSNBC reports,
The [Telegraph] goes on to say that Williams has been doing impressions of Boyle and singing "I Dreamed A Dream," her audition song, among his circle of friends. Williams' rep denied the publication's entire story, so it stands to reason this isn't accurate either.
Williams is not the only celebrity to become a big fan of the singing sensation; Wolverine star Hugh Jackman, 40, even joked that he should do a duet with her.
It was thought that Meryl Streep would play the title role reported the Guardian.
The film will detail her rise to stardom.
