article imagePower of love: Diver found lost wedding ring in murky waters

By John Louie S. Ramos     Aug 23, 2009 in World
In New Zealand, persistence pays off as a man found his wedding ring 16 months after it fell off the capital's foggy harbor.
Ecologist Aleki Taumoepeau promised his wife that he'll find the wedding ring and he really did.
GMANews.tv reports
"It flew off into the air and everyone on the boat was looking at it and said it was like a scene from 'Lord of the Rings' in slow motion," Rachel Taumoepeau was quoted saying.
The ring fell off the muddy waters of the harbor March of last year when Taumopeau was checking the water for invasive plant species. Taumopeau tossed an anchor overboard to mark the spot where the ring fell.
Three months later, Taumopeau made an initial search but was unsuccessful in finding the treasured ring. Recently, he took another dive, risking chill midwinter temperatures. This time, he was aroused by what he saw -- the ring shining brightly amidst the thick, muddy and murky waters of the harbor.
