Washington might rumble with the footsteps of thousands, rumble with the voices of the people, rumble with the opposition to the current tenor of America. The march on D.C. is gaining momentum.
A march on Washington D.C. is planned for September 12, 2009 by the grass root National Tea Party Movement. The date is significant and is meant to convey the desire to return to the patriotism of September 12, 2001. In the attached video an actor playing Thomas Paine urges you to attend in opposition to the tenor of American politics and the government.
The march is being organized utilizing the momentum built up by the Tea Party Protests, and the 912 Project as well as other grass roots movements and PACs which have come together to sponsor the protest. The major sponsor has been identified as Freedom Works Foundation. The Foundation has a long list of corporate and conservative members and promotes Capitalism and limited government.
As of now the momentum for the D.C. rally is slow building, but it is building. Conservative Pundits Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck have spoken of the movement on their TV and Radio Shows bringing more attention to the planned protest.
On 912dc.org the buzz is that more people have registered or contacted the website indicating an interest to attend as a result of Hannity and Beck. The questions posed from those interested include information about accommodations as well as transport from various areas of the country to Washington D.C.
September 12, 2009 falls on a Saturday. The date may help raise attendance of the main event, but there are hopes that other events planned for September 10th and 11th will generate much needed attendance. Earlier tea party protests have had a healthy attendance, but looked spars due to localization of those nationwide protests.
Nationwide the Health Care Reform Town Halls have garnered much attention, and the accompanying protests have also shown dissatisfaction with other aspects of the government. The march on Washington is meant, according to the website, to demonstrate the wide range of protests against the government.
