After disposing an "overfed" Rafael Concepcion, newly crowned WBA Interim super-flyweight champion Nonito Donaire declared his willingness to step in class and take on the best of the best.
Donaire, who fought a hard-earned unanimous decision against the Panamanian Concepcion in front of a boisterous pro-Filipino crowd at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at the heart of Las Vegas said that he is wants to test his skills against either Jorge Arce or Fernando Montiel.
“I’m definitely ready for the big guys," said Donaire as reported by
Montiel, the fiery Mexican warrior who owns the WBO super-flyweight belt hasn't fought since stopping Diego Oscar Silva last March but remains to be one of the top class fighters of the division.
On the other hand, Arce the frolicsome Mexican idol is coming off an easy third round disposal of Filipino journeyman Fernando Lumacad has a fight in September but is also willing to engage to a scrimmage against the "Filipino Flash."
On Saturday, Donaire threw everything against Concepcion, even registering an impressive 70 percent accuracy on power punches but it was pretty evident that the "extra" pounds really worked at Concepcion's advantage.
