The House of Representatives has announced late today that their website and servers are overwhelmed by emails from citizens concerning the health care reform efforts.
A notice was issued to members of Congress and their staff that the www.house.gov website may either be slow or unresponsive due to the immense amount of traffic. Traffic data cannot be released without the approval of lawmakers and thus cannot be shown to the public.
"It is clearly health care reform," Jeff Ventura, spokesman for the chief administrative officer, said. "There's no doubt about it." Currently, both houses of Congress are on recess and most are currently in their home districts. Many of these congressional members are currently experiencing pressure from both sides during town hall meetings regarding the health care reform plans being proposed.
The last time the main congressional website experienced such traffic was in January before the passage of the stimulus bill. So far, the site is still up and running.
