If mermaids did exist, they probably were all lurking in Israel as more than a dozen people have reported that they'd seen the half fish, half woman creature by their own eyes.
Shlomo Cohen, a former soldier is one of them. He told Israel National News that two weeks ago, when he was with his friend in Kiryat Yam, a city near Haifa, "we saw a woman laying on the sand in a weird way," but when they approached her, she suddenly jumped into the sea and disappeared.
Now, rumors say the small city even offer a prize of US$1 million for those who can prove the mermaid they saw by photo, though Natti Zilberman, spokesman of the city council denied it.
"I believe, if there really is a mermaid, then so many people and tourists will come to Kiryat Yam, a lot more money will be made than US$1 million," he told Sky News.
