On Tuesday Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kui was sentenced to 1.5 years for violating her house arrest. She will be allowed to continue to serve this new sentence under house arrest.
MSNBC reports that Suu Kui had been sentenced to three years in prison. After a five minute recess the court's home minister changed the sentence.
Myanmar's Suu Kui was convicted of the latest charge on Tuesday. She has been under house arrest for most of the past 20 years.
