article imageAustralian government proposes mass killings of camels

By John Louie S. Ramos     Aug 9, 2009 in Environment
In Australia, authorities have considered the mass killing of thousands of camels wandering the remote areas of the region.
According to authorities, the camels which were dubbed as "havoc-wreaking creatures" hinder easy transportation. Add to that, camels also compete with sheep and cattle for food, thus they trample vegetation, destroy the pipe lines and scare the residents.
As of the moment there are about 1million camels roaming around the country.
The government have also mapped out a camel reduction program which attempts to reduce the camel population by at least two-thirds, also to reduce its catastrophic damage.
