After the death of her baby son, a mother was horrifically saddened by such an event but things got worse when officials fined her $173.
Recently in the UK, a mother was fined for grieving too long for the death of her baby son, who recently passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The baby was five weeks old.
The mother was fined $173 for spending too long at her son’s coffin because it was being taken away for cremation. Terri Rouse said that she was shocked when officials told her that she was taking too long mourning her child. “The vicar had asked if I would like to spend a bit more time saying goodbye. I sat by the coffin for 10 minutes, telling my son how much we loved him and begging him not to be scared
The crematorium charges extra if the funeral runs longer than 30 minutes, even though the next funeral was not for another 50 minutes. Terri Rouse’s husband said the fee was “sick and disgusting” and went on to say, “Terrie was weeping hysterically. She just wanted a few extra minutes to say goodbye to our much-loved little boy."
