Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer speaks out on the town hall protesters, saying that they intend to 'hurt our president.'
There is an increasingly fine line between free speech and activities that are deemed dangerous to a given presidential administration, a U.S. senator said recently. Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer shared her point of view on MSNBC's "Hardball," saying that town hall protesters intend to "hurt President Obama."
The issue of town hall protests as a political tool has been flagged by Democrats in both chambers of Congress - and the White House has begun a monitoring program to better understand the criticism they are receiving on health care and where that criticism is coming from. The White House move has brought about concerns over privacy and free speech.
Senator Boxer sought to paint these protesters as a well-dressed and well-rehearsed mob.
"All of this is a diversion," Boxer said. It is an attempt to "hurt our president and to change the Congress."
