Eli Manning and the New York Giants are poised to sign a contract extension that will make the quarterback the highest paid player in NFL history. He'll earn roughly $15.3 million a season.
According to various sources, the New York Giants have come to terms on a 6-year extension on the contract of Pro Bowl Quarterback Eli Manning worth an estimated $97.5 million. Manning has one year left on his current contract, and is scheduled to earn $9.4 million this football season. The new contract is said to have $35 million in guaranteed money, and is worth $106.9 million over the next 7 years in total, and will make Manning the highest paid Quarterback in NFL history.
Eli Manning was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLII as the New York Giants upset the favorite New England Patriots 17 to 14, throwing two fourth quarter touchdown passes. Last season, Manning was a Pro Bowl selection completing 60.3% of his passes for 3,238 yards with 21 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions in 479 pass attempts.
When the deal is finally signed, the New York Giants will have secured their franchise quarterback through the 2015 football season.
