By Cynthia Trowbridge     Aug 6, 2009 in Crime
Dogs do bark but what happens when a person barks at a police dog? A man in Three Rivers Michigan found out the hard way it is against the law to bark at police dogs.
THREE RIVERS, Mich.- Three Rivers is located in southwest Michigan bordering on Indiana. As of the year 2008 the population was 7,179.
The community started in the early 1830s'. After several unsuccessful attempts at several other names it was named Three Rivers by the then landowner John H. Bowman. He chose the name because of the confluence of St. Joseph, Portage and Rocky Rivers at that point.
On Monday evening police were called to an apartment complex to investigate a suspicious situation. Anija, the officer's police dog was left inside the patrol car. A 26-year-old man who was outside of the building approached the car.
According to police the man "began to torment" the police dog by barking and shouting at it. This caused the dog to become excited and "very aggressive."
The police arrested the man for harassing a police dog and he faces charges of disorderly conduct. He has been released on bond.
