Director Sir Ridley Scott will direct the prequel to 1979's Sci-Fi hit 'Alien'. Specifics have not been released on the plot or the cast.
The director of Gladiator and The Kingdom of Heaven has signed on to film the prequel of the 1979 alien space movie ‘Alien’, according to Variety. The Alien saga spawned three sequels, including an Alien vs. Predator franchise.
The original ‘Alien’ film starred Sigourney Weaver and John Hurt about a mining ship, investigating a suspected SOS, lands on a distant planet. The crew discovers some strange creatures and investigates.
Fans are speculating if the prequel will focus on the crashed alien spaceship or an alien they discover on the planet. Sigourney Weaver will not be part of the new movie. Mrs. Weaver stated in an interview with [i]MTV News, “I don’t see how Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) could be part of a prequel. I’m glad Ridley’s connected to it because I know it will be classy.”
The untitled Alien prequel is slated for a 2011 release and will be written by John Spaihts.
