By Michael Krebs.
Chanting 'Just say no' and holding signs, a loud and unruly Austin crowd confronts Democratic House Representative Lloyd Doggett on the issue of the government takeover of health care.
A dramatic video posted on YouTube showcases the loud demonstration Democratic House Representative Lloyd Doggett received on the issue of the controversial health care bill that has been endorsed by President Obama and House Democrats.
An unruly crowd chanted "Just say no" and carried a variety of signs - some depicting Rep. Lloyd Doggett with devil-like horns. One sign read "No Government Counseling in My Home," and another stated "No Socialized Healthcare."
The crowd spilled into the street and confronted Congressman Doggett, shouting over his attempts to placate them.
The health care bill that has been supported by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Obama was pushed through a final committee ahead of the August recess. Blue Dog Democrats - moderates within the Democratic Party - were successful in winning some of the compromises that they had flagged, but 53% of Americans are opposed to the bill.
