article imageMicrochipped Dog Found After Nine Years and 1,200 Miles

By Andrew Moran     Aug 1, 2009 in Lifestyle
It is a very sad and dreadful thing when a pet runs away but it was a delight when owners were reunited with their microchipped dog after a very long time and distance.
After missing for nine years, Muffy, a fleat-bitten dog, has been reunited with her owners who are 1,200 miles away.
The dog was found on a piece of cardboard with a matted coat and a bad skin condition. An anonymous call was made to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Melbourne and will be sent back home to Brisbane next week.
RSPCA spokesperson Tim Pilgrim said that the little dog had a microchip planted inside of her and decided to track down the dog’s owners, “It's amazing that the original owners had microchipped her as it wasn't that common nine years ago and it is amazing that she had come 2,000 km from home. We are advising people to get their pets microchipped so we can have some more happy endings like this one.”
