Second ETA bombing in Spain in two days, at least 2 dead

By KJ Mullins     Jul 30, 2009 in World
Two civil guards on the Spanish resort island of Majorca were killed Thursday when their car exploded near a police barracks. Several people have been injured from the blast.
The blast, in the town of Calvia, has all the markers of the Baque separatist group ETA. The group is said to have been before the early morning bombing of a police barracks in Spain on Tuesday.
It is still not clear if the car itself was rigged with explosives or if a device was placed below the vehicle.
The Spanish royal family is reported to be staying near the area of the blast at Marivent Palace.
AFP reports:
"Two civil guard officers who were in an official vehicle were killed in an explosion," a spokewoman for the civil guards on the Balearic islands told AFP.
The area hit on Thursday is in the Palmanova beach resort area.
