A Utah boy, 7, decided church was not the place to be on Sunday morning. So what did he do to get out of it? The young lad stole his family car in order to avoid going to church.
After getting 911 calls, two deputies caught up to the boy and tried to stop his joyride.
Police dispatchers said the child was reportedly driving recklessly and one witness said he ran a stop sign.
"The deputies at one time had pulled up kinda close to him on the side and could see it was a very small person driving the car," said Lt. Matthew Bell Weber County Sheriff's.
Weber County Sheriff's Capt. Klint Anderson said two deputies were unable to stop the boy who was driving a Dodge Intrepid despite being able to follow him for some time. The car reportedly reached speeds of about 40 mph.
Video of the chase was released and is embedded above (fast forward to the 3:00-minute mark to watch the driver ditch the car and run from police.police).
He is too young to be charged with any crimes, so no citations were issued. Police have urged his parents to keep the keys to their vehicle out of reach.
