Some stories cry out for deeper explanations from all concerned participants, while others demand at least a modicum of decorum be maintained. When sex and a horse are the story, it is the latter requirement.
Rodell Vereen has again been charged in Columbia, South Carolina with having sex with a horse, not just any old horse, but the same horse in the same stable he got caught with last time.
In 2007, Vereen was caught "using" the 21 year old horse Sugar by the horses owner, Barbara Kenley.
Vereen was sentenced to five years probation last year for buggery and told to stay away from both Sugar and the stable where Sugar lives.
This year, Kenley noticed Sugar was acting strangely and some items in her stable were being moved about, not believing any rational person might be simple enough to repeat such a crime, Kenley staked out the stable for several nights and found nothing amiss. At that point Barbara Kenley installed surveillance cameras and shortly found that Vereen was indeed the guilty party.
Vereen is being held on charges of trespassing and buggery and faces up to five years in prison.
The prison stables will likely be off limits or any work detail he might try to get.
No mention of counseling for Sugar was noted in the original article. Kenley did mention considering just simply shooting Vereen with the shotgun she held him at gunpoint with while waiting for the police to show up.
After Mr. Vereen gets to prison, he may wish she had.
Two salient thoughts in this issue:
It is typically best to stick to one's own species when looking for companionship.
Why do these folks go so far out of their way to reinforce the stereotypical deep south "no branches family tree" image?
