Indonesia reports the first Swine Flu death on Sunday (26/7). The victim was a six-years-old girl who had been treated in a Jakarta private hospital, then referred to a government hospital in Jakarta on July 19th due to severe fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
Based on examination results, X-Rays, and laboratory results, the girl is suffering from serious pneumonia. While the results of the examination Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) showed positive influenza A H1N1. During the period of intensive care at the hospital, the condition of the patient continued to deteriorate and finally died on July 22nd, 2009, at 21.00 pm.
Thus, until yesterday, the cumulative cases of positive influenza A H1N1 in Indonesia amounted to almost 400 people. And until now there are 14 provinces have already found H1N1 positive. Namely, Bali, Banten, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, Riau, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, East Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.
The number of Swine Flu victims in Indonesia is more likely to increase because the H1N1 virus is transmitted through direct contact from human to human through coughing, sneezing or objects that have been in contact with the infected patient.
To prevent the increasing number of the victims died as a result of swine flu, the Ministry of Health has suggested people not to travel abroad for while, stay home when exposed to flu, and wearing masks when visiting public places such as airports, shopping malls, and hospitals.
