PREFACE: As Dr. Gates seems to have been, and many in the media have been accused of, I also may be guilty of blowing a simple situation way out of proportion in comparison to the original event, as a simple matter of officers responding to a legitimate 911 call, encountering a seemingly arrogant black Harvard professor with a chip on his shoulder, has been nuked into a nationwide racial conflagration.
Perhaps. Yet I too was arrested on the same charge by a CPD officer not five blocks from Dr. Gates' house some years ago, only I am white and the officer was black. I was a drunken punk in a bad situation wising off to a cop. CPD got no time for games. Rougher city than you may know. I do. Gave me a unique take on the situation, which told me that Dr. Gates was playing the race card from the time officers arrived, perhaps even seeing a golden opportunity to do so upon being confronted by a white police officer. I have since been proved to be prophetic.
Knew it all along.
Yet sometimes an event can also be a catalyst, or perhaps for myself in the case of this heated rant, a catharsis. I have been watching this kind of egregious amoral behavior for decades on the part of black Leftist grievance-mongers, from the Tawana Brawley hoax rape case, to Rev. Jeremiah Wright calling modern-day America the U-S of KKK-A and accusing white doctors of injecting black babies with AIDS, to President Obama giving the three voter-intimidating Black Panther poll-watching thugs
a total pass even with a default conviction in hand, to Dr. Gates today.
I am SICK OF IT! Racial injustice and persecution could not be more Equal Opportunity. In my mind, based on evidence I have been witnessing my whole life, it is more than just a pattern of behavior. UPDATE: After returning a call to one of Cambridge's Finest after I emailed him my
first major oped on this subject, about which Anderson Cooper's AC360 show contacted me Tuesday, the Officer Who Will Remain Nameless (my choice - I will gladly take all the heat here), told me that approval of the CPD based on emails and calls to the Department are running about 95% in favor of Officer Crowley and the CPD. So not only does Hope Spring Eternal, it looks like Professor Gates and President Obama stepped in it Big Time.
Oh, and the Cambridge Chronicle will be reprinting that oped as well at their request. In short, the wolf-crying by black racial grievance-mongers of the American Left (of which you'll read a lot more about very shortly) may just have finally led the villagers into revolt. I know it has me. See what happens.

I was hoping the
oped I posted earlier today on this subject would be my last. But it appears President Obama and Dr. Gates are attempting to walk away scot-free from the scenes of their respective crimes. As a bullsh*te enforcement officer myself, I cannot just witness this political arson and let the perps walk. That would make me a silent accomplice. So consider this my citizen journalist's arrest.
What first drew me to writing this post wasn't Dr. Gates'
"It's not about me" article now posted at Drudge, although I do and will have much to say about Dr. Gates' evasion and moral equivocation tactics later on, as they are most pertinent to the subject at hand. What really drove me to write this piece was a comment by fellow DJ Carolyn E. Price, just below the piece I wrapped and posted earlier:
What really kills me about this whole Obama-gate situation, here is a quote from Obama yesterday backing off his "acting stupidly" comment (emphasis is mine):
"I continue to believe, based on what I have heard, that there was an overreaction in pulling Prof. Gates out of his home and to the station. I also continue to believe, based on what I heard, that Prof. Gates probably overreacted as well."
This is typical double-speak; stating in the positive that there definitely was an overreaction by the police ... but ... his buddy may have or probably overreacted. Why is he perpetuating the fact that there was a positive stupid reaction by the cops, yet is is questionable whether his friend reacted stupidly? You either treat the two sides equally (because you actually weren't there and don't know what happened) or shut the hell up about it.

It is very much on point, and is perhaps embodied in Ms. Price's lucid statement that inspired me to write this post, despite the fact I'm so sick of this subject I never wanted to address it again. Another example. Second Amendment? Gun nut! Although I do give Andrew Sullivan at the Atlantic Monthly credit for suggesting that, given the situation in Iran at the time of the Green Revolution and Neda Soltan's shooting death by a basiji killer, maybe the Second Amendment isn't
such a bad thing after all.
Would be a fair fight, anyway. Which is what the Second Amendment is all about. See, our Founding Fathers knew that the best deterrent to tyranny is an armed populace. That amendment is preceded only by the First. Very lofty position in our Constitution. Was not a mistake at all. The first thing most tyrants do is take away everybody's guns. Stalin did it. So did Mao. That also was not happenstance. But that's about all I give Sullivan credit for. He is a Lefty, after all. But none of that changes the fact that I'm a gun nut to the Left, even though I don't even own one. I still burn. It's the mindset that counts to
rabid ideologues.
Question Climate Change? Heretic! Worse than a Holocaust denier! Even
un-American, according to Lefty Henry Waxman. Lot of that going around on the Left lately. Gee, whatever happened to all that
Dissent is Patriotic stuff the Left cheered to the rafters when Hillary shrieked about it? I guess they
set that one on fire too, huh? Hell, they even
codified that arson! In each of those cases, we conservative Republicans are set on fire, and are then forced to try to put ourselves out with reasoned responses. But the Lefties just keep pouring so much gasoline on us we never can. That's the whole point, see? They set us on fire, then say we're burning in a fire of our own making! Just like Obama and Gates are doing now.

Maureen Dowd is a
Five-Star Palin arsonist. Even David Letterman pours gas on her on a regular basis. Though as often happens with serial Lefty arsonists, he got burned too. Hasn't
slowed his arson down any. But from a purely comedy perspective, can't he find anything funny about President Obama?

But you have to give the Left credit where credit is due. One Sarah Palin fire continues to burn like magic. Here's a "news report" that is quite common in the media. Did you know that Sarah Palin is facing her eighteenth ethics complaint as governor of Alaska? Pretty serious stuff, huh? In fact, many pundits on the Left wonder if that's why Ms. Palin resigned as governor. Black clouds, you know? Now, what the Lefties don't tell you is that the first seventeen ethics complaints against Governor Palin
were all dismissed.
See how it works now? The Left has set Sarah Palin on fire seventeen times with bogus ethics charges, and each time she has had to spend all of her time and money putting those fires out. Yet the Left sets her on fire with an ethics complaint for the eighteenth time, then points to the other seventeen extinguished fires as proof of guilt of her arson. Hell, she even had to file an ethics complaint
against herself during TrooperGate. Had to set herself on fire in order to put herself out! How sick and twisted is that? I would not doubt for a moment that the reason Sarah Palin resigned is because being accused falsely of, and having to answer all those bogus ethics charges, was affecting her ability to govern as any state governor should.
Getting the Big Lefty Picture now? Good! Tactical background lesson on the Left is just about over.
The American Left's overall strategy could not be more clear. Lefties detest conservative policies and values, which are far more deeply rooted in American politics and society than liberalism. Hell, Jimmy Carter thinks the Civil War to end slavery in America was
un-Christian, and that we
didn't have to fight the British either! How sad is that? But that's Jimmy Carter. Lefty sadness and appeasement personified.
And a big reason I'm a conservative. Perhaps even the biggest. See, I came of voting age during the 1979-81 Iranian Embassy Hostage crisis that ran for
444 endless days. My first vote was in 1980. I wanted four more years of that? Not to mention gas lines, double-digit inflation and 21% interest rates.
Hanging out with Hamas and Michael Moore since being
run out of office on a rail has not endeared the
peanut farmer from Georgia to me any more, either. Just the opposite. In fact, I like his brother way more than him now.

Wait! There's one very important Lefty ideological standard playbook accusation tactic I left out. If a white Cambridge cop shows up at a Harvard Black Studies scholar's home to investigate a 911 B&E call, and said Black Studies scholar becomes uncooperative and belligerent enough for said white officer to call for backup, and said white officer arrests said Black Studies scholar for conduct even a black police officer at the scene said was arrest-worthy, it is racism and racial profiling. Truth is not a factor, see? Yet another Lefty axiom. Truth is
like pouring gas on a Lefty.

I have already highlighted President Obama's deviously sly and clever Moving On in this matter from Carol's comment. Typical apologetic Lefty non-apology. If the three most important words in a Lefty's vocabulary are Let's Move On, the two words that are like garlic to a vampire for Lefties is I'm Sorry. No apology given to Officer James Crowley. Just an invitation for a beer with Dr. Gates and an evasive and equivocating statement which, as Ms. Po so simply yet wisely opined in true Kung Fu-like fashion, said the same damn thing the President said that started this whole racial and worldwide media imbroglio: that Officer James Crowley is still more to blame than Dr. Gates, despite the world of evidence that has damned Gates since.

Perhaps the most Inconvenient Truths for Dr. Gates are that Officer Crowley is, in fact, a racial profiling expert who taught the course at the Lowell Police Academy for five years, and was handpicked for that job assignment by a black man. Better yet, the black police officer on the scene stated for the record that Dr. Gates was out of control, and that his arrest by Officer Crowley at his home was fully justified. Oops! Looks like the Good Professor Skippy Gates spilled a little gasoline on himself with that one! A lot, actually.
Speaking of gasoline,
Al Sharpton, the master of gas can politics, whom Jeff Jacoby of the Boston Globe once called the
Democrats' David Duke, and who was all set to show up in Cambridge to ignite his own conflagration, is probably breathing a sigh of relief right now as he watches Dr. Gates burn in a fire of his own making, as so often happens to reckless Lefty arsonists, and is probably even now surveying the American landscape for safer Whitey targets to torch. Big Al's kind of like the
Klan in reverse.

But I digress. Dr. Gates is
doing his best to put himself out now, while at the same time leaving the conflagration he himself started Burning Bright Into The Night. Here are his most recent requests to the firemen to help put him out, but to leave the Building of Racial Harmony he set on fire aflame:
Black Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. says he's ready to move on from his arrest by a white police officer, hoping to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal justice system and saying "in the end, this is not about me at all."
"I told the president that my principal regret was that all of the attention paid to his deeply supportive remarks during his press conference had distracted attention from his health care initiative."
See what I mean? "Forget the racial firestorm I just set. Let's talk about healthcare!" In other words, Let's Move On. Beautiful! But again, right out of the Lefty playbook. But wait! There's more! There always is:
"This could and should be a profound teaching moment in the history of race relations in America," Gates said. "I sincerely hope that the Cambridge police department will choose to work with me toward that goal."
It is a profound teaching moment, Professor. You are good! You start the fire, and not only is it the fireman's fault, it's up them to put it out! And now, the last inflammatory match to close the book on this unfortunate conflagration. Whoever set it. Looks like it was the Cambridge Police who set it after all:
"If my experience leads to the lessening of the occurrence of racial profiling, then I would find that enormously gratifying," Gates said on The Root. "Because, in the end, this is not about me at all; it is about the creation of a society in which 'equal justice before law' is a lived reality."
Professor Skippy, I can guaran-damn-tee you, as long as there are intellectually accredited but mentally and morally vacuous race-baiters like you, "equal justice under the law" will never be a reality in this country. Ironically, for honest American lawmen of all races least of all now. Mission Accomplished!

So now, President Obama, Dr. Gates and Officer Crowley will all have their beer, shake hands, make up and tell the nation and the world the fire is out, and that they're all working together to extinguish the smoldering embers. Yet the fire rages still, and what is fueling that fire is a racial grievance ideology a la Jeremiah Wright, and an unreasonable yet profitable cottage industry of Hate Whitey in this country that will never go out of business as long as black Lefty race-baiters like Sharpton, Farrakhan, Wright, and now Dr. Gates it appears, are still allowed to traverse this fine country with gas cans and matches in hand, looking for the next Duke Lacrosse team,
Tawana Brawley or Officer James Crowley to torch. But that's how it goes with the political arsonists of the Left. If you catch fire, put yourself out, but keep that fire going!

Dear Readers, I can't tell you how many times I have caught the Left whitewashing egregious offenses both to humanity and reason itself once the political fires started burning them. Just in the last sixteen months as a citizen journalist here at DJ, I've caught some real doozies! To keep it all thematic and relevant, I will provide just one of many that you may find most illuminating, at least as much as a burning Righty, in light of all that you have read to this point. My
biggest scoop at DJ of all time was this Orwellian whitewashing of the Obama campaign website last year that I just happened to catch in the dead of night. Pure luck.
The backstory. Terrorist fundraiser
Hatem el-Hady, whose Kindhearts Foundation was shut down by the Feds in 2006, had Michelle Obama listed on his Obama campaign website blog page as a self-declared friend, which only Michelle Obama herself could approve. Very bad PR for a presidential candidate. When the campaign started getting heat from pesky Righties like me, who started pouring the gasoline of truth on the matter regarding our now-First Lady's troubling friend, the Obama campaign website made an unperson of the upstanding and valued ex-terrorist and then-Obama fundraiser. Under the cyberspace bus he goes!
Where I come in is here: when I went online at 1:30AM to get an update on that story, which was running very hot at the time, I went to the Obama campaign website and saw that Mr. el-Hady's blog page was still there, but that Michelle Obama's name was no longer listed in his friend column. No BFF in politics with Lefties. Friendships of convenience only. I looked around the Internet for a new conservative blog story on it, and found no one had reported on it. A scoop! One big 55-gallon drum of 93 Grade Truth! The next morning, Mr. El-Hady was gone forever. Not a trace that he ever existed. Orwell would be proud.

What made this catch a scoop, which went viral across the conservative blogosphere the next day, is that it is one thing to see Mr. el-Hady Here Today, Gone Tomorrow. That's
SOP for Lefties when they
set themselves on fire on the 'net. But the fact that Michelle's name disappeared first in the dead of night before Mr. el-Hady vanished into the ether speaks volumes, both back then and now. Because that is exactly what President Obama and Dr. Gates are trying to do here: make this rank and sordid affair all just disappear.
Uh-uh, guys. Not on my watch. Not this time. Too great a crime. Set a nationwide racial inferno. Read any blog comments lately? Nuclear stuff. And it never had to happen at all, if only Dr. Gates had just cooperated with the law as we all should. In fact, the only color that should really matter in America is blue: the law. That is what make us all equal, My Fine Fellow Americans, as imperfect as that law may be.
What I have tried very hard to do here in an opinion format is not only to share with you, Dear Readers, my own take on what happened outside of a standard news format, but to back it all up with the relevant history, hard facts, breaking news, and the truth as I saw it based on how those many puzzle pieces
all fit together. So let's do a Cliff's Notes review and put this dark and unsavory picture together piece by piece.
I believe Professor Gates, being a
typical arrogant Lefty Harvard
egghead (I was a Harvard Square rat in my youth), and
seemingly most racial to boot, saw a golden opportunity to light a fire of racial injustice where no fire was burning, i.e. racial arson. When he discovered to his horrific bad luck that the Big Bad Whitey Cambridge Police Officer that he was was trying to set aflame, Sgt. James Crowley, was actually not only one of the most professional racial firemen in the state but taught the course for five years, he knew he had spilled a lot of gasoline on himself. Let's Move On, People. Because It's Not All About Him.

I also believe Obama made a typical Lefty political calculation to capitalize on this seemingly golden opportunity to stoke the flames of racial grievance a la Jeremiah Wright, judging by his self-admittance of not knowing all the facts, yet siding with his Black Studies professor friend and Oprah BFF Skippy Gates and stating the cops "acted stupidly," and he too got burned. Badly. Now given all the facts, we clearly see that despite the fact both men were as wrong and wrong could be, they then offer Officer Crowley apologetic non-apologies and use beer to douse themselves. Yet even given all the facts of the matter, the two men still seek to keep the fires of racial grievance burning as a matter of pure political leverage.
Think about this, people. If true racial harmony were to break out all across America tomorrow morning, how many black racial grievance-mongers would be put out of business? Maybe the President sees the situation as an unemployment stop loss. I dunno. But even if it is, it sure doesn't look good. Especially for the man, now President of ALL Americans, who promised to set us down the road to racial harmony and peace in his renowned Philadelphia speech on race last year, yet was as quick to indict the innocent white Officer Crowley as he was to free the guilty and convicted-by-default Black Panther poll watcher thugs by using political appointees at Justice to
squeeze career lawyers, who wanted to skin the racist voter-intimidating Black Panthers thugs alive in the worst possible ways for their egregious offenses.

Fox News says voters complained of intimidation in Philadelphia when they saw an alleged Black Panther member guarding a polling station door. The man was holding a nightstick and police reportedly asked the man to move along.

Yet now it appears that both men will walk away from their crimes scot-free, while at the same time leaving the embers of racial grievance alive with their pleas for "equality under the law" and the "hard lessons learned" in regard to this "unfortunate incident," when the response to the 911 call and subsequent actions by Officers Crowley and Figueroa could not have been more honorable, professional or non-racial.
The double standard here is atrociously unjust. If David Duke accused a black man of raping his daughter and was found to be a liar, he would be looking at a very long stretch in prison, and rightfully so. Yet Officer Crowley has effectively been falsely accused of rape. In many ways, he is a victim of rape: professional rape, and the rape of his reputation as a fair and fine law officer who not only could not be less racial, but taught courses at a police academy to teach young officers how not to be too! In fact, he was teaching the next generation of local law officers to not allow themselves to even give the appearance of being racial.
It's like Tawana Brawley all over again, complete with Al Sharpton waiting in the wings with gas can and matches in hand. I now have to wonder if cops teach that course in their academies for the purpose of equal application of the law in their diverse communities, of which all of America is just one huge melting pot and always has been, or because there's so many Skip Gates and Al Sharptons out there just waiting to start a fire where none is burning that they have to protect themselves as a matter of course.
Which brings me to my last and most important point here regarding today's Democratic Far Left. In mainstream conservatism, there isn't a one among us who doesn't condemn the extremists at the far end of our political spectrum. We condemn without reservation the David Dukes, Fred Phelps, Stormfronts and Aryan Nations of this nation and this world, and could not condemn more loudly or harshly lone wack jobs like Scott Roeder, James von Brunn, and yes, even Timothy McVeigh. Especially Timothy McVeigh! He is not one of us. Not By a country mile! I have even rushed to the President's
staunch defense on more than one occasion, and even once said
I'm Sorry. Get the point? Hell, I even called the Secret Service on a high tech security vulnerability I saw after he was elected last November! They dare
question MY patriotism?

Yet the extreme nutcases of the Left like Sharpton and Ward Churchill are not only not reviled and outcast, they are even hailed as heroes! In fact, many Lefty crackpots
of their ilk are now running the political asylum we know today as the Democratic Party. Example. When David Duke ran for President, he was disavowed by every conservative Republican in the country. Contrary to popular Lefty opinion, true conservative Republicans detest racism in all its forms, and the unjust persecution of innocents
anywhere. It was, after all, the white conservative Republican Abraham Lincoln who risked this nation's very existence to put an end to the scourge of American slavery once and for all. Gave his life to that cause in the end.
Say what you will, but there are lot of good Abraham Lincoln types in today's Republican Party. Hell, the GOP chairman is Michael Steele! Which brings up yet another cardinal Lefty sin. We Righties may not agree with Mr. Steele on every issue, but never will we call him, or any other black American of any political stripe, the
heinous epithet "Uncle Tom," a
national sport on the Left when it comes to
black conservatives.
With all that I have tried to teach and enlighten you with this epic post, Dear Readers, ask yourself why all this has transpired as it has. Then ask yourself why we Righty Republicans reject race-mongers like David Duke without quarter or equivocation, yet Lefty Democrats put the heinous
bloodstained race-monger Al Sharpton on the same Democratic candidate debate platform as President Obama. Then again, given all that has transpired as of late, maybe not so strange. Food for thought. A smorgasbord, actually.
Lastly, given all that I know now. I believe both the President and Dr. Gates are guilty of moral malfeasance and malicious racial intent of the worst order. But that's just me. Dr. Gates will never pay a price for his moral and ethical malfeasance at Harvard. Hell, they'll probably make him President and appoint fellow Harvard
race-monger and Black Studies scholar (funny how that works, huh?)

As to President Obama, I leave it to you all, given all that you know now, whether the President's conduct in this partial-birth abortion of racial injustice and broad professional slander of Officer Crowley, the CPD, and every other honorable law enforcement officer in this country, are merely the expected egregious moral and ethical lapses of a typical Lefty who just happens to be President, or if it is
an impeachable offense. In other words, was Obama just being stupid in prematurely siding with an admitted friend? Or was it by Lefty Jeremiah Wright-like racial grievance-mongering
design? Do you see the same disturbing pattern here I do?
Turn the situation on its head for a moment and ask yourself: what would be the liberal Democrat response had President Bush morally indicted a black cop and sided with a belligerent white suspect without knowing all the facts, yet pressured Justice to free three white racists already convicted by default of egregious voter intimidation? Who wouldn't have screamed for his scalp? Even I would have been!
Is Justice blind? Or only in one eye now? Some twisted path to racial harmony THIS is!
