It might be National Ice Cream Month, but July 19 was also National Ice Cream Day, and Baskin-Robbins celebrated these two sweet events by re-opening its second oldest store and selling cones for 31-cents.
The landmark Pasadena, California, store was opened in 1946 by Burt Baskin, co-founder of Baskin-Robbins, under the name Burson’s Ice Cream Shop.
The current franchisees, Sharis and Edwin Amirian, formed a partnership with the Pasadena Museum of History to make a $500 donation after the Sunday event, that featured a Dixieland band, children’s coloring stations, a balloon maker, and selling ice cream cones and soft-serve cones for 31-cents in honor of the store’s original 31 flavors.
"We are thrilled to share Baskin- Robbins' fun environment with the community in this historic location," the Amirians said in a statement.
Baskin-Robbins currently has more than 6,000 retail stores in 35 countries, and is celebrating more than 60 years in business.
