In the six month of Mr. Obama's presidency, polls suggest that his approval rating his slightly lower than that of his predecessor's during the same time of his tenure.
As the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama heads into his sixth month, the American public supports him as much as they supported former President George W. Bush at the same time.
In a recent national
USA Today/Gallup poll released Tuesday, Pres. Obama’s approval rating is 55 percent as opposed to Pres. Bush’s 56 percent in July 2001. Whit Ayres Republican pollster said, “His ratings have certainly come back down to Earth in a very short time period.”
Analysts believe that Pres. Obama’s handling of the economy is an indicator of the public’s dissatisfaction and the ever rising of national debt, which is at $11.5 trillion. In the same poll, 49 percent of respondents disapproved of his economic policies. On health care, 50 percent of American respondents disapprove of his policies.
The telephone poll of 1,006 respondents also show two-thirds of the people interviewed still see Pres. Obama as a strong and decisive leader. White House adviser David Axelrod said, “People fundamentally like this president, and they believe he's smart and capable and strong and trying to do the right thing.”
The poll has a margin of error of plus-or-minus four percentage points.
