article imageOp-Ed: Word Leaked About TV Deal for Octomom

By Sandy Sand     Jul 17, 2009 in Entertainment
It’s not quite official, but sources who are familiar with a deal between Eyeworks and Octomom Nadya Suleman for a televised special, blabbed all before the official press release scheduled for public consumption in the United Kingdom later today.
Suleman, a single mom who gained worldwide notoriety after giving birth to in vitro fertilized octuplets on January 26, said the special television show (sic) will be produced only for special occasions like birthdays and other milestones.
According to the Pasadena Star News:
"It's not much income and will only be on special occasions," Suleman confirmed. She added that the specials will not be invasive on her children.
She said she plans to “make ends meet” by writing a book she hopes will be adapted for a screenplay.
"I don't want to use them (her children) to make a living," she said.
Suleman added that she will look for ways to earn a living in order to provide for her children.
It’s a wonder that Suleman thinks any publicity, whether it be television specials, movies, books or magazine articles will not be “invasive” on her children.
Suleman also said her nearly six-month old babies will be featured soon in a celebrity magazine. More publicity.
But beyond that, is the country -- or the world, for that matter -- ready for yet another multiple of kids birthed in a single event television show, movie or book?
It seems like we’ve had it up to our eyebrows with the likes of Jon & Kate Plus 8, 17 Kids and Counting (which are now 18 plus a grandchild born to one of the original 17) and half a dozen other like shows.
Multiple births are becoming so frequent that they are almost commonplace, and if the public isn’t already weary of them they soon will be.
For a change of pace maybe there should be a “reality” show called “Coping with One Kid and Why There’s No Money In It.”
