article imageFilipina DH and Hero from Hongkong Now Back in the Philippines

By Maria Narissa Aranzanso     Jul 9, 2009 in Lifestyle
A Filipina overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was excitedly welcomed by her family at the Ninoy Aquino International Airpoirt (NAIA). She had returned more than PhP 2 million worth of money and cheques that she saw while picking garbage in Hongkong.
Aside from her family and fellowmen from Nueva Viscaya, Mildred Perez was also welcomed by officials from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Department of Labor and Employment. She arrived via Cebu Pacific Flight 5J-111 at 1 pm on July 7, 2009.
It was learned that Perez decided to pick garbage while she was out of work in Hongkong until she saw an envelope that contains HK$ 350 and cheques equivalent to more than PhP 2 million.
Instead of being tempted by the amount of money, Perez looked for the owner to return what she found and she was given one can of biscuits as reward. Perez told everybody that she is not regretful of what she did.
She is ready to return to Hongkong to face the case that was filed against her with the hope that she will prevail because she believes she does not have an offense that has to be paid.
Perez is very grateful to the officers of OWWA who helped her return to the country, and to Bro. Eddie Villanueva who allowed her to live in his house in Hongkong while she was out of work.
