Man dies after falling into vat of chocolate

A temporary factory worker in Camden County, NJ., has died as he slipped and fell into an eight-foot deep vat of melted chocolate.

The man is identified as 29-year old Vincent Smith II who was a temporary worker at the Cocoa Services Inc. plant. The incident occurred at 10 :30 am ET on Wednesday. Police are investigating into the cause of the incident. According to his co-workers, Smith was loading raw chunks of chocolate into a melting tank when a blade used to mix the raw chocolate struck him causing him to fall into the boiling chocolate. Although his co-workers rushed to turn off the mixing machine and pulled him out of the chocolate vat, they couldn't save him. Jason Laughlin, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, said:

We have launched an investigation into the incident, but at this point there’s no suggestion of foul play. It appears to be an accident.

Cocoa Services is privately owned company in New Jersey which melts down chocolate to send out to companies who make sweets and confectionery.
