IBF flyweight champion Nonito Donaire shares his thoughts on what motivates him to be a better boxer. He also talks about learning from fighters of the old school of boxing.
"It is part of my goal to be a champion at different weight classes. I'd like to see how far can I go up in weight- 115, 118, and 122 pounds" said Donaire in a recent interview with Hardcore Sports Radio.
Gabriel Morency asked him if he wants to be the next Manny Pacquiao, who has won different belts in several weight divisions. "It is what drives me. If I stay in 112 lbs, I could be champion at 112 for many many years" answered Nonito, who clearly stated that being a multi-division champion motivates him a lot.
Donaire pointed out that he owe some of his boxing moves from Nicaraguan great Alexis Arguello, who is clearly a textbook fighter with great fundamentals and power in his hands. "It is important for me to have the same form and mentality". said Nonito, who is referring to Arguello's strength of mind inside the boxing ring.
"I learned a lot from the old school fight"said the IBF flyweight champion who mentioned that Arguello's fight with Chacon is one of his favourites.
