Yahoo is set to release its new search tool to be called 'Search Pad' to the general public tomorrow. Search Pad is aimed at people who want an easy way to conduct research on the Internet.
The service, which is built on top of Yahoo Search and will automatically remember user searches, will make it easier for people to research information and collate it one area and works in a similar fashion to Google Notebook, which Google recently announced will be shut down.
As long as users search on Yahoo, the tool will pickup the fact a user is doing research using "deep science to recognize when someone is doing research" Larry Cornett, Yahoo VP of Consumer Experience told
CNET.
This means the service will automatically save search results when it notices you have clicked on lots of links on a certain topic, and will create a directory of all your results for later reference.
The 'Pad' will offer capabilities including adding or deleting text and notes, move them, print them, or e-mail them to yourself and others.
No one has successfully dominated this area of the market. Google recently pulled out, whilst Jeteye offers some of the capabilities which are found in Yahoo Search Pad.
